Marina Bay Golf Course
Marina Bay Golf Course is a great public golf course. As we having been there for awhile, we decided to go back. It was a nice sunny afternoon and we were thinking we are going to rock the place. In a short space of half and hour or so, we saw dark clouds hovering. Then the Singapore Flyer disappeared as if David Copperfield had some evil intentions.
We should have heeded Noah's advice. After some hours, we gave it up and a rainbow came up. Some weeks later we came back after that rain check. It was sunny and we though hey we are going to rock the place. Then as we devoured our lunch, dark clouds hovered and then the Flyer disappeared and the storm came.
After such exasperating time loss and having only one lifetime, we really cannot afford another fiasco. This time the rain came earlier in the morning. We have hope.
It is a well-manicured course designed with sadist intention Links styled course with ten bunkers from the first hole. It is not my problem because in golf you just have to hit straight. So when you can't hit straight it is your problem. I mean in the EPL soccer league if you can't beat QPR, it is your problem.
Let me share with you the secret of hitting straight from tee off especially from the first hole. It is important to do it for a good start. You have to imagine that you are a professional golfer and a huge following when you step up. Crowds formed on both sides as they await your opening shot. A hook or slice means you would probably kill a few of your beloved fans. Keep thinking this way and then count how many fans you might have killed along the way.
When it rains it pours. When the sun shines, it shines till you get hurt. Life is like that. Wait for the storm to pass. Wait for the lightning to clear. Nothing lasts forever including bad things.
You have to take the good with the bad. A very hot day is still better than a lightning-filled rainy day.
A clear blue sky is cheery while dark clouds are gloomy. Some how sooner or later the darkness would disappear. Life is the same.
I used to like GPS for golf beginning with OCC. Do take care of GPS though especially from Apps on your mobile. Do not follow them blindly or you may end up in a ravine or river. GPS in golf does not matter to me any more. Even if you are quite good, I rather use my own judgement. Anyway, you are not going to hit it so perfectly to the "T".
A guy was riding a bike and he saw a man lying down on the grass beside a donkey. He asked him for the time. The man lifted his head and reached out to lift by touching apparently the donkey's testicles and said 11.05 am sir. He looked at his watch and it was exact. So he left.
About an hour later, he was riding on his way back and decided to test the man and again asked for the time. The man did the same thing and said 12.08 pm sir. At this point the man could not contain his curiosity and enquired: "How may I ask by touching the donkey's testicles could you tell the time?"
The man said: "Oh, I am lying down here while the donkey stood there and since you asked for the time the donkey was blocking my view to the giant clock tower on the far side and the most efficient way for me to look at the time is simply to lift its testicles as they blocked my view."
I saw a friend using this GPS distance telling talking gadget. Point , shoot and the thing speaks to you. How many languages I do not know but it costs more than a hundred bucks. Cool.
Another great thing about MBGC is the food at The Canopy. It is good. My favourite are the Johor Bee Hoon which must have been originated from Johor. Easy to eat and delicious.
And the Tahu Goreng done a little Thai style but very good and spicy with lots of peanut gravy and bean sprouts.
I leave you with a video on how Sergio Garcia played a great shot.
Golf as in life, play as it lies.
