EPL Game Week 38

Manchester Red or Blue lost both their managers. On the red side due to retirement after an illustrious career and the blue side for not achieving targets  but Mancini is getting lots of moolas for it. 7 million pounds! Even Mancini and Man City sounded alike, that is an awful lot of money. May be if I were in charge I could have won the F.A. Cup.

Meanwhile, after 8 seasons of struggle and maintaining their Premiership status, Wigan has the dubious honour of winning the F.A. Cup and qualifying for a European competition and yet being relegated. Which is better, the F.A. Cup or Premiership status?

You are going to have to enjoy the last matches of the season because weekend night won't be the same again for a few months. Meanwhile, David Beckham is retiring even though he was offered an extension by PSG for another season. Beckham has won League titles in four different countries Man Utd, Real Madrid, L.A. Galaxy and now PSG. He is never as talented as Messi or Ronaldo but he worked extremely hard to get there and remained humble. This is like an end of a Golden era with the retirement of Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes and possibly John Terry. Becks is a good role model for young aspiring footballers. 24 trophies, 4 countries, 115 caps. Brilliant!

Chelsea v Everton - Chelsea has just won the Europa League! Rafa Benitez has got his vindication. They have not lost for many matches and with this final match which is at Stamford Bridge there is no better way to end the season than with a win especially led by Juan Mata who was named as their Player of the Year. In their last 5 matches Chelsea is had 3 wins and 2 losses. There were no draws. This will be David Moyes last match in charge of Everton and the players would like to give him a nice farewell. Chelsea can win this one but so could Everton but Chelsea by now is a tired team and the fact they haven't drawn means this would be a draw. 1-1.

Liverpool v QPR - Liverpool can't improve on their position because their other half of Merseyside is 5 points ahead. Their 3-1 away win over Fulham was rather impressive and Sturridge is on a hot streak. The fans will be chanting YNWA and so a Liverpool win for sure don't you think as QPR have nothing to show anymore. It shall be a memorable moment for one of Liverpools' favourite homegrown sons as Jamie Carragher bids farewell after 17 seasons. Even Sir Alex has heaped praises on him. 2-0.

Man City v Norwich - With Mancini gone, Brian Kidd has taken charge for now. With Wigan down, everyone else is safe for another season. Norwich have never beaten City not even a draw in their last 4 meetings and in the last 3 the minimum goals were 6-7 but City are not as motivated these days with a big sales looming. This will be a showroom for potential buyers. A City win before the overhaul. 3-1.

Newcastle v Arsenal - The Magpies are safe but Arsenal need to win as Chelsea is 2 points ahead and 1 goal ahead in goal difference. If Chelsea do not beat Everton, Arsenal have a chance to get ahead by scoring more. If the Gunners achieved that, they do not have to start early qualification for Europe but Tottenham is breathing down the Gunners' neck albeit at a slight disadvantage being a point behind Arsenal. The visitors have been on song. The home side will have to look at themselves for next season. For now, an Arsenal win is on the cards. 0-2.

Southampton v Stoke - Southampton, Stoke, Sunderland are all about the same but I like the way the Saints play. Their last meet in December was a 3-3 draw at Stoke. It shall probably be a draw but for sentimental reason, I say Southampton to win at the St. Mary's. 2-1.

Swansea v Fulham - Swansea after a brillinat start went missing for a long time until they had Wigan beaten away and then playing in Sir Alex last home match. Fulham have only beaten Swansea once in 5 outings drawing only once and both sides always finished 2-3 goals altogether. Fulham lost all their last 5 matches against all teams and Michu and company must surely pull one more over to maintain their good record. 2-1.

Tottenham v Sunderland - If Arsenal could not win and Tottenham does then they are through to Europe next season and whether they could secure the service of Spanish hitman David Villa next year may hinge on whether they will be playing in Europe. If Arsenal play beautiful soccer then Tottenham is the most exciting team in the EPL and deserve their place in Europe. If both win, Spurs miss by a point. How sad? Sunderland have never beaten Tottenham in 5 meetings drawing twice. Tottenham will go all out for that win but their fate is not in their own hands. 2-0.

WBA v Man Utd - WBA have never beaten Man Utd for a long time. I mean who has? Their previous scores in favour of Man Utd were 2-2, 2-1, 2-1, 2-0, 2-0. Worse, they have recently lost 3 on the trot. While the Swansea match was an Old Trafford farewell for Sir Alex, this will be his final match as the Red Devils manager. If the players still love him they will give him a rousing performance to close the season and a standing ovation from the fans. Cheers! No more hair-dryer next season. But then again, here comes the chilly glaring stares from David Moyes. Moyes will make you eat dirt in training. 2-0

West Ham v Reading - The Hammers have not won for awhile. Reading may be going down but they went to Fulham 2 matches ago and won 4-2. In their last 2 meetings Reading won 3-0 and 1-0. It will be headed for a draw. 2-2.

Wigan v Villa - Wigan's Premier League's romance has ended. There's only pride left. Actually there is nothing much left by this time of the season except picking up the bones. It will be probably a draw. 2-2. If I were you I would be watching QPR, Wigan and Reading games this weekend as they shall not be around next season.

Enjoy and brace yourselves for lonely weekend nights soon.
