English Premier League - Game One

Riots in London may cause some cancellation of games so the Tottenhm av Everton game is probably off. After such a long lay off for soccer hungry fans, one just can't wait to kick some balls.

Arsenal will kick off against Newcastle at St. James Park probably without Captain Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri who are both probably going to be sold to Barcelona and Manchester City respectively for a princely combined sum of a whopping 60 million pounds (35m and 25m). This will allow Arsene Wenger to splash out some cool cash to toughen out his defence. Aaron Ramsey will be probably given his chance to have a piece of action and new signing Gervinho to get the goals? Robbie van Persie could deliver the goals - when fit.

Manchester City should have a relatively easy game with Swansea but new star Sergio Aguero is unlikley to start which means that Dzeko will spearhead the attack and should get a goal or two as he has been in scoring form in pre-season and the Charity Shield. Carlos Teves too may take a rest after all they can afford to.

West Bromwich Albion has the tough task of facng Champions Manchester United who showed why they could consistently deliver a winner's game when they won 3-2 v their noisy blue neighbours afte being 0-2 down. Rooney has been firing in pre-season. Imagine a shock victory from WBA here in the opener. Fun isn't it?

Stoke v Chelsea woul dbe interesting to get the first taste of new boss Villa-Boas who may be younger than some footballers. Stoke could give them a grinding game to welcome him.

All eyes will also be on Liverpool who had such a poort start to last season only to find their way back. Gerrard is probably out so will they field Jordan Henderson touted as the future Steven Gerrard? Andy Carroll is hot and is fit scoring in pre-season. With new addition Stewart Downing firing crosses the extra help is welcome. It was reported that they sealed a deal to bring Jose Enrique from Newcastle that could solve their left sided problems.

That's all for now. Get your beers and nuts ready. Soocer is good in that it is guaranteed to play for 90 minutes. Can you imagine those days when you prepared to watch Mike Tyson fight? You standby your beer and nuts, went to pee and when you came back the fight was over!
