Charting Golf Club Distance

Some of us do not know our distance. They can be anywhere in Singapore but when they are late whether they are in Jurong or Changi they tell you they are nearby and will be there in 10 minutes. It's either the island is so small or they have super automobiles and driving skills. Talking about driving skills, many golfers still do not really know their distance. What distance each club should generate and what you the golfer can generate using each club. In golf, there is no such thing as what distance for the club but only your distance. One fellow could achieve 150m with a 7-iron while another can do it only with a 5-iron, so be it. However, those with the right technique and can hit it longer has some advantages as a 7-iron is an easier club to hit than a 5-iron but if you are skilled enough or with the right equipment, then the gap narrows again. Well, nice from far but far from nice - from a distance. Let Bette Midler entertain you with "From A distance": http...

Ping Golf Clubs in 2010

A blogger who claimed he blogged on food went to a upmarket restaurant with some friends ordered some food and drank champagne. The bill came up to a few hundred $ and he refused to pay saying that he is a blogger. On goodwill, the restaurant reduced the bill to like a quarter of the original and he threw his credit card at the cashier. Maybe it was a misunderstanding but can such a blog be independent? Do you have a voice against bad service, poor products or do you still have moral authority to rate and review? Bloggers must know if they are in it for free food and goodies or to be a real reviewer. I have always paid for every bill when I eat or spent on golf equipment and I will write what I think is proper and correct. One of the key criteria is to help and at the same time entertain or motivate people. Promote friendship and connect people. All you need is a camera and a laptop and you expect to go everywhere eating for free. Shameful! Where is the integrity?  Well, I ...

True Happiness

Image
A friend would occasionally ask: "Are you happy?" Generally, most of us can say a resounding yes. Some may be happy with their business or work yet may not be happy with a situation at home or vice versa. Others are doing great but worry about health. Can you say that you are entirely happy? Or two out of three ain't bad. Listen to Meatloaf: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2G-DKOGFbc Whatever it is, if you look around you - countries with severe floods or other calamities then we have nothing to complain. Perspective checked. Is this to say that being in Singapore, we can only be happy? What is Happiness? Being happy is to be "glad, content, to feel lucky, fortunate, casual, light-hearted, gay, merry, lively, cheerful, bright, jovial, pleased, joyous, satisfied, prosperous." (Gay of course has some other meanings.) So many words to described a certain feeling or situation so don't tell me that you are not in one of them. How can that be? Defining happi...

Hort Park & The Southern Ridges

Nature walks are always good. Young, old and the future old can do it. Some reports have some beef with Singapore but we should be proud that with little land space, we could have so many parks, nature walks, park connectors, etc. where most cities we have visited are pure concrete jungles and little else. I mean birds don't even have a place to lay eggs there. Singapore has since outscored ourselves when we linked the Southern Ridges with two bridges. Discovering the Southern Ridges from Alexandra Arch (a bridge with beautiful changing colour hues at night) to the Hort Park. Southern Ridges Nice walk through the forest via an overhead bridge. Just to confirm that pineapples grow from the ground an not in supermarket shelves. Next time, I'll prove that chickens roam freely and not grow in supermarkets too. Telok Blangah Hills On one side, Telok Blangah Hills is connected to Mount Faber with Kent Ridge on the other end. If y...
