EPL Game Week 18

This is the only time you are at the better end of a stick as you are on holiday or partying and resting while the EPL and the players have to work.  This is the crucial period of the EPL for those trying to win the title as well as those who are fighting for survival. It is also why it is the toughest league in the world. Strange things are beginning to happen from the last matches and Oman became the 98th country to have visited my blog. Chelsea  v Fulham - While Chelsea has lots of experience winning the league title they have never won the European title nor has it the experience handling a situation they are facing now and their title hope is fast fading and this being a London derby makes things tougher. Fortunately, they are playing at Stamford Bridge where a normally good Fulham became lame and lost 0-5 at home to Manchester United, a very surprising result but credit to the Red Devils. Can Chelsea beat Fulham when they couldn't beat Wigan? 2-1 with Sturridge to s...

So This Is Christmas?

Dear Leader has died. When someone informed me about it and later another which was more specific - that he died on a train, I thought Dear Leader was in Singapore. When I watched the news in the evening, the unabashed outpouring of grief  was like nothing I have ever seen before. This was not quiet tears in mourning. Even when you put together the deaths of Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Bruce Lee, Michael Jackson and the Busby Babes you would not have seen such a spectacle. I am not suggesting that the mourners from soldiers to factory workers and peasants had their pictures taken while facing a firing squad or there was money to be made but even the most beloved person on planet earth has his detractors no matter how great he was. The unison and great pain felt by the North Korean people suggested that the emotions were misplaced. Dear Leader has been chomping on Cuban cigars, fine wine and Hollywood movies, etc. while his people suffered. Only when they stomped Gaddafi'...

EPL Game Week 17

When you have watched Barcelona mercilessly outplayed and decimated Santos 4-0 earlier on Sunday evening, you would have seen soccer at its very best! Neymar hardly had a chance to smell the ball and I believed that at dome point Barcelona might have 75% of possession. It was just so one sided and liken to watching monster fish eating feeder fish. Whichever team to play Barcelona, I feel sorry for them. The soccer dished out was so good the rest seemed immaterial. They are certainly and beyond doubt the world's best team! EPL Game Week 17 This will be early. Christmas is coming you know! While you are enjoying yourselves with  the festive spirit they have to work. Wolves v Norwich - Wolves looked a dejected lot. They started the season okay and despite barely surviving last season they were a decent side. They are now in danger of the drop if they don't start to pick up points. Norwich is better on current form and though away they could win this one unless ...

Golf Driving Range @ Punggol

Image
I have been to @ Punggol, Punggol Promenade quite early on. We did Patin fishing and also did fishing at Punggol end.  It surprised me that while the memory is still so fresh in my mind it was quite a while ago. Time truly passed us by so quickly. I have not gone to the billiard saloon to look up my friend yet. I haven't taken a night walk there along the river but they have already brought so many changes and added on others. Take a look at a few previous articles. http://gforce-guru.blogspot.com/2011/03/punggol.html http://gforce-guru.blogspot.com/2011/08/gone-fishing.html http://gforce-guru.blogspot.com/2011/10/patin-fishing-punggol.html Punggol is the new capital of Singapore. Things are shaping up. I have also been shaping up but fortunately I haven't taken up running there and I learned that some folks were chased and attacked by strayed dogs recently. Dog bites man is not news but man bites dog is news. In Indonesia, an owner came home after more than...

EPL Game Week 16

The current table in the EPL reads: (1) Manchester City, (2) Manchester United, (3) Chelsea, (4) Tottenham (5) Arsenal), (5) Chelsea, (6) Liverpool, (7) Newcastle, (8) Stoke. The lower bottom half reads (14) Fulham, (15) WBA, (16) Sunderland, (17) Wolves, (18) Wigan, (19) Blackburn, (20) Bolton. The gaps in points are narrow especially for those at the bottom. The tough Christmas period is coming. The EPL is a top league and one of the best in the world. I'm not sure if it is the best as both United and City were dumped out of the top European Competition but it is definitely the toughest. Game Week 16 is an important morale booster as you won't know how things will turn out after Christmas. Game Week 16 Blackburn v WBA - Blackburn was leading Sunderland and looked headed for a win until the last few minutes. It must have been disheartening. WBA surprisingly went down at home to Wigan. It is hard to see both overpowering each other. They will just about balance up...

Pasir Ris Fish Farm

Image
As of now in December 2011, Bangladesh and Myanmar became the 96th and 97th countries to have accessed my blog. Three more to a century. I'll be a good global citizen. When I can't go to the mountain, the mountain must come to me. Thanks to the Internet. I didn't know Singapore has so many fish farms just for ornamental fish alone! From Sungei Tengah, Kranji, Pasir Ris to Selatar you have got them all, each one is the same yet different. They will have their Arowana, guppy, Luo Han, etc. but not every decor, variety of species is the same. I jsut checked this one out at Pasir Ris and they even have a small farm for "foul play". They have ducks at a pond. Or geese roaming around. Then chickens on a roof top. Money for nothing and chicks for free. Here is Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTP2RUD_cL0&ob=av2e http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlPjxz4LGak   (Live) The usual Koi (not the bubble tea type). Koi...

Car Servicing

Image
How many people know that the automobile companies will make more money from car parts than selling their cars? Singapore is one of the world's most expensive places to own and run a car. Whether it is for convenience or as a status symbol, is it a boon or bane in your life? The people who save the most money are those who do not own a car or that some folks are slave to their cars? I see neighbours who have their vehicle washed at least twice a day - before they left for work and when they returned, regardless of the time, I have seen their domestic workers doing it. Would they have done the same without their maids? Is it because everybody has such a good life that since they have paid so much for a vehicle that they have to spend such enormous resources on it be it time or more money? Could it that Singapore is such a boring place that we resort to this? Someone asked me before - is the Blackberry good to have? My reply was that it depends on whether you are slave or ...
