Teppei Daidokoro @ Timbre+

The first time I visited Timbre was at an old school at Mount Sophia. Now Timbre is everywhere - the Artshouse, the Substation, Gillman. Okay, seems like every where. But I was not checking out on Timbre but Timbre + and more appropriately Teppei Daidokoro @ Timbre +.

You know Mr. Teppei set up a smallish Japanese Restaurant at Orchid Hotel called ''Teppei'' and the rest is history. There is a perpetual long  and never-ending queue. For his dinner Omakase session it may have to book online and wait a month. But Teppei is everywhere now and going into even more food types. So I visited Timbre + to have Teppei Daidokoro.

It was the former Ayer Rajah hawker centre turned into a cool and hip place. Interestingly, shipping containers adorn the place and they were decorated at strategic location and angles. There is an array of brightly coloured containers splashed with graffiti art. Certainly for the arty farty.

You will be spoilt for food choices.

Plenty of space and seats but it could be too warm during lunch time as I was there in the evening.

Some of the stalls like Garcon and Two Wings could also be found at other joints like Essen@ Pinnacle. Many of these stalls are social enterprises.

Here it is - Teppei Daidokoro!

I like the unique decor. When a country becomes successful, you have to eat in style. The old things and old ones are always being discarded.

There are smaller local hawker food too. I was told the Roxy Laksa has relocated here. I don't mind that as I considered Laksa one of the greatest food invented.

There are other interesting features inside. Like pizza serve from an art bus.

After office crowd start to filter in.

A live band performs but I found it noisy if seated in the enclosure. There is a different band to entertain you each day.

There is a huge beer stall in the middle well stock with all kinds of beer from around the world. I found my Suntory Premium but they do not come cheap. Too pricey.

Of course there are some other interesting food that I may try next time.

Like seafood and crabs.

And these days you can't live without it can you? Free Wifi!!

Restaurant food and casual eats at affordable prices. Teppei Daidokoro (where Daidokoro means kitchen in Japanese) is a Japanese yakitori concept. You have to love the Signature Kaisen Don (sashimi rice bowl).

Their yakitori includes chicken meatballs and thighs with leeks, pork belly and sausages, salmon belly and more. I love the salmon belly.

Something new but so quickly they must have been operating for about a year now. It was a good outing with beer and some old friends. Thanks to Nick for the beer and food! When are we going again?
