Cuzzies United F C

There was a time when people say...we could not make it, but we did. But we did. You see Cuzzies United FC is not a new football club for the S. League. In fact, it is not even a football club. It, however, is going to be a food club.

It is not just another food club but a special one for special reasons. It is a group of different generations but with the younger who should be taking over the helm and renewing ties that should continue into the future. Because we are Singaporeans, we went through the same historical moments in life and we grew up together are are related by kinship by blood, one way or another.

It is often perhaps always the grandmothers and in the same vein mothers that have kept the family closely knitted. I recalled fondly as a young boy, all the uncles and aunties would gather at grandma's on weekends and all the women folks would keep the kitchen buzzing in a potpourri of fragrance and spice.

I often share with many that when a person gets older, we have lesser needs. What is the point of having everything but with no one to share with. So the most important things in life is not money or the material things. What you and I would eventually need are family and friends. At the worse just a few good friends.

With this in mind, a food cousin, I mean good cousin visiting from overseas started it all. We wanted to meet. We needed a date with limited choices, we hope to have everyone to join but we knew not all could come and we needed a place.

I proposed and it was accepted that we meet at Essen@Pinnacle. The venue is quite easily accessible whatever your mode of transport. The food is good and could suit a variety of taste buds and oh there is a good selection of beer plus it is not expensive. Tasty, quality food at reasonable prices. I was just happy and hoping that everyone would be happy with the place. We must have occupied four or five tables.

One by one we came, family by family. Like getting into Noah's Ark. Hand shakes, hugs and warm wishes later, the food began to flow - fast and furious. It was quite relentless. Full steam ahead.

Although the stall sign said Two Wings, we needed more.

I definitely love these sweet potato fries. Real Chinese potatoes for a twist.

Foie Gras for some. Not sure though if instead of force-feeding geese they are now force-feeding ducks. You mean ducks are a lower specimen? Don't you think we are fortunate to be top of the food chain?

Others like fatty pork.

Or seafood platter.

The food can be great. More importantly, food and drinks become greater in good company.

How times have flown.

Not fifty shades of grey but shades of grey for us in their fifties or more. It was good that this also happened after SG50.

As I have said, it is all about kinship, friendship and relationship. It is all about ...ships.

The kinship and friendship have been rekindled. Grandma would be proud of us!

Anyone can now call for a meeting. Take it from here and continue.
Just think and ask: ''If not me, who? If not now, when?''
As the force awakens...May the force be with you.
