EPL 2014/15 - Game Week 27 (Special Feature On Lee Man Hon)

Which Team Do You Support? Which team do you support in the EPL? I can tell you that most support Manchester United, Chelsea or Manchester City today. Why? Because these teams have been League Champions in the last few years. They are in fashion. Everybody loves a winning team. To build a winning team takes many years of bloody hard work.  These are the same reasons why some men marry rich women or some women marry wealthy men. Its easier. Or folks who suck up to certain people in power, are influential or wealthy. The Good Old Days During my school days, I have heard about the legends of the Busby Babes, Bobby Charlton and George Best. I like the name Wolverhampton Wanderers, I thought that Albion was a good team though not sure which Albion it was. Some of my friends love Manchester City, Derby County and Leeds United. Today, a few of them still support Derby and Leeds but they are not sure where they are. There were teams like Luton Town and Carlisle United.  T...

The Zodiac - Year Of The Goat

Image
Before we go further, let  us get one thing straight. Is this the year of the "Sheep'', ''Ram'' or ''Goat''?  What is a  Sheep ? A sheep is a domesticated ruminant mammal with a thick woolly coat with typically curving horns found only in the male and kept in flocks for its wool and meat.  It is proverbial for its tendency to follow others in the flock and also used in reference to people who are too easily influenced or led. What is a Ram ? It is an uncastrated male sheep. It is also meant as to roughly force something into place. What is a Goat ? It is a hardy domesticated ruminant mammal that has backward-curving horns and the male has a beard and are called Billy goat and the female Nanny goat. Their young are called kids. So please call your young - children not kids or people may think your are a goat.  It is kept for milk and meat and noted for their lively behaviour. They became livelier when they munched on and discovered cof...

EPL 2014/15 - Game Week 26

Commercial greed and stupidity is going to hit us again. The greed part will always be there but I hope the stupidity stops. I am talking about the TV right issues next season. We who love soccer and the English Premier League are the most suffered lot.  We need more competition to get things to be better. Can we be forever at their mercy? I started with Starhub when they had the EPL and paid like $26 for a few channels including sports which included the soccer. Then soccer became a separate channel and cost like another $26 but because I like Discovery and National Geographic channels I kept the faith and bore the brunt. As if more than $50 a month is not enough, EPL was lost and migrated to Singtel. I kept Discovery and NatGeo and also the different sports, Euro and the Golf Channel and added EPL back from another telco that has the same father but different mother. That costs me another like $56.  More than a hundred dollars for soccer that used to be free, for soccer...

EPL 2014/15 - Game Week 25

Chelsea put on another clinical performance to secure what they had to do as Man City found themselves even further away 7 points to be exact as they were held at home by the supposedly toothless Tigers from Hull but the win of the day belonged to Tottenham as Hurrican Harry brushed all aside in his path, first Chelsea and now Arsenal knew not what hit them. The funny part was the Gunners actually defended decently.  If King Harry Kane continued to have his head screwed tightly on his shoulders he will be a big star for Spurs and England. Even Arsene Wenger in defeat said he should be quickly given a game by England otherwise someone else would. The thing about Harry is that his game is simple - he does all the simple things extremely well and very effectively. He always want to get involved. He wants the responsibility and the ball. Everybody knows how he plays but they just could not stopped him. Even John Terry and Gary Cahill are still smarting from the experience. His...

EPL 2014/15 - Game Week 24

Tottenham v Arsenal -  Two points separated these London neighbours in 6th and 5th places so this is a huge match besides a hot London Derby. Tottenham are playing better and Harry Kane is hot, hot enough to do some damage to any opponents especially aat White Hart Lane but the Gunners are better recording five straight wins, the last one a 5-0 thrashing of Villa. Arsenal have not lost to Tottenham since the season before last. You will be in for a treat if Tottenham play like they did Chelsea and Arsenal play like they did Man City. A draw is not good for either and they must ambition to not just qualify for Europe but to chase the front two. In five previous meets, Arsenal won 3 and drew 1. In their last four times when they met, scores were 1-0, 1-1 or 2-0. Never more than 2 goals which is surprising considering both are attacking teams. Arsenal are in slightly better form. This is a 50-5- game which Spurs are capable of winning but Arsenal may just have a little more.  1-...
