EPL 2020/21 - Game Week 36

Congratulations to Manchester City! Newly crowned EPL Champions! Not every club that has limitless funds wins titles and or build a great team. You have to give it to Pep Guardiola and his players. They could now go on to become UCL Champions for the first time!

Game Week 36 means two more games to go and its curtains. It will mean a lot to every team albeit for different reasons. Relegations battle is over but top four are still up for grabs. The gap when all is over will be filled up with the delayed Euro 2020 in June 2021. Now for the Game Week 36 and then 37:

Newcastle v Manchester City - The Magpies are completely safe and last week's 4-2 away win over Leicester was unexpectedly impressive. City's title celebration was postponed and delayed after they lost to Chelsea again and it seemed that only Tuchel can get the better of Guardiola. With the title sewn, will City exert themselves or preserve themselves so that their best team could be safe to face Chelsea in the Champions League final? Steve Bruce's team has been scoring more than City recently. City will probably win it even if they play with a changed lineup. 2-3.

Burnley v Leeds - Burnley will be around next season in the EPL. Leeds' 3-1 win over Spurs showed their qualities all round. The Clarets are without a home win in 8 games. Leeds will find that Burnley can be tough but they should prevail. 1-2.

Southampton v Fulham - The Saints are above Burnley and Newcastle in that order. The 3-1 win over Palace on Wednesday was solid. Fulham lost all but drew once in their last 7 games. Already relegated, they can only play for pride and the players to be retained for the lower division next season. Scott Parker has done a good job but the team is not enough. 2-0.

Brighton v West Ham - The Seagulls are just above relegated teams by ten points a this moment. Graham Potter trained his team well but there has been not enough goals and wins in them. West Ham are having a great season. They are even enjoyable to watch under David Moyes. Kudos to him and his team but the Hammers suffered some poor results recently and dropped to 6th. They could still fight for top four and are capable of it with remaining games being this match, away to WBA and then home to Southampton. When these teams met in the past they used to draw. West Ham have more incentives to win but Brighton will be relax. 1-1.

Crystal Palace v Aston Villa - Palace won just once in their last 6 matches but still in 13th due to their brighter performances earlier in the season. It may be Roy Hodson's swansong season. Villa has fallen off from their great start. Without captain Jack Grealish for quite a long spell, they have been less consistent. From last seasons' much poorer position they have done very well. History favours the Eagles at home in this tie but Villa can get at least a point. 1-1.

Spurs v Wolves - Spurs are on a WLWL. Very impressive against the Blades in a 4-0 rout, they looked a bit clueless when they got hit 1-3 by Leeds. 2 points behind West Ham in 7th with 56 points and winning their next 3 from here then Aston Villa at home and away to Leicester may give them some hope. Wolves are in slightly better form now. 3 wins and 2 defeats and a draw in their last six games have left them in 12th but Wolves lost in their last 2 visits here. Harry Kane is on course to win the Golden Boot with 21 goals which Mo Salah just levelled. He should add on a bit here. 2-1.

WBA v Liverpool - Liverpool have gone 7 league matches without defeat the longest run for the last 7 games in the league (with 5 wins and 2 draws). A huge sigh of relief for now but their 4-2 away win over Manchester United meant that they are back in the hunt for top 4. Being sluggish for too long they seemed to have sprung back to life. It was their first win at Old Trafford in 7 years where even a Liverpool at their best did not achieved giving Klopp his first win there. It was a huge performance and big result. But all of this becomes useless unless they win all their next 3 matches - this match away to WBA, next away to Burnley and then home to Crystal Palace. Already relegated which is the first time for Sam Allardyce who should have been appointed earlier, they have won twice and lost twice in their last four. They held the Reds in the reverse tie and Liverpool must remember how they slipped and not repeat it. Liverpool are scoring again and after a morale boosting big win over the Red Devils should be set for 3 huge points. 1-3.

Everton v Sheffield United - Everton had only 2 wins and 5 draws in their last 7 matches but Sheffield United are right at the bottom who seldom scores and hardly win. The Toffees to win and Calvert-Lewin to score. 2-0.
