EPL 2019/20 - Game Week 35

I have Jamie Vardy in my Fantasy Football League team for quite a long period of time and has been and still is leading the goal-scorer chart. Then he hit a barren spell and was without a goal in several games so I sold him and the very next game against Crystal Palace he hit a brace and followed that up with another late goal away to Arsenal. Vardy's rise from nowhere is one of the most interesting ever and do you ever forget his magnificent back heel goal for England against Germany. At the time, Manuel Neuer was considered the best goalkeeper in the world. Harry Kane got a very good goal too in the match. Take a look at it as it was his first England goal. What a goal it was!

Right now, the rest are fighting for Champions League and Europa qualification or avoiding the dreaded drop but who are the leading scorers now?

(1) Jamie Vardy (Leicester ) - 22 goals
(2) Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal) - 20
(3) Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) - 19
(3) Danny Ings (Southampton) - 19
(5) Sergio Aguero (Man City) - 16
(5) Sadio Mane (Liverpool) - 16
(7) Raul Jimenez (Wolves) - 15
(7) Marcus Rashford (Man Utd) - 15
(7) Anthony Martial (Man Utd) - 15
(10) Tammy Abraham (Chelsea) - 14
(11) Domininc Calvert-Lewin (Everton) - 13
(11) Raheem Sterling (Man City) - 13
(11) Harry Kane (Spurs) - 13

Vardy is actually 33 years old. An old man in soccer terms but he is still relentless and Aubameyang is 31. Two old men heading the goal-scoring chart. Don't muck around with old men, you are warned! Danny Ings is probably having his best season ever after leaving Liverpool for Southampton. To be not playing for a top four team and yet scoring regularly speaks volume. Salah is still showing a very good record and so too Mane though not like their previous seasons where they have scored more but with their numbers and basically playing as wingers is simply awesome too. Jimenez is a top consistent player with his goals for Wolves. Marcus Rashford has shown great potential since a few years back. So too Martial and this could be his best season yet. Mason Greenwood is the player to watch at Manchester United. Mind you, he is only 18! Tammy Abraham at 22 has shown that he can be in the mix when given a chance. Calvert-Lewin was described by his boss, the excellent Carlo Ancelotti as a stop striker in Europe! Of course Raheem Sterling will be there and also playing as a winger. Harry Kane would have certainly scored a lot more but was hampered by injuries this season and the relatively poor form of Spurs after Pochettino left.

We need competition in life to improve one another like Liverpool and City. Like Vardy, Aubameyang, Ings and Salah. Like an election. Sharpen one another. Maybe we should promote and relegate MPs haha and put them on a league table so all will get served better.

Norwich v West Ham - The Canaries have nothing to fight for except pride having been downed 1-2 at Watford. West Ham's 0-1 home defeat by Burnley left them in 16th level on 31 points with Watford in 17th. This is precarious but also a great opportunity for the Hammers to face a Norwich side that have found it hard to win. As this is Game Week 35, there are only 4 matches left. West Ham will bank on their experience to stay up. In Singapore, the Hammer made an impact with humility, dignity and grace so likewise I think I will go for a Hammers' win here. 1-2.

Watford v Newcastle - Watford hope to find home comfort when they host a Newcastle that were properly thrashed 0-5 by City. The Hornets themselves won but only against Norwich. Only a team like City can prise you open so Watofrd won't find the Magpies easy. 2-2.

Liverpool v Burnley - The Reds are still leading by 23 points and Mohamed Salah is chasing up the goal scoring chart with a brace to bring his tally to 19, 3 behind Jamie Vardy. They were not so impressive against Villa but was better at Brighton and are now the fastest team in the Premier League to have won 30 matches (in 34 games). Even at Anfield it will not be easy peasy because Burnley are in good form and are unbeaten in 4 matches with 3 clean sheets. They will also sit back and counter attack. Burnley have scored a goal every game so they are capable of getting one here. 3-1.

Sheffield United v Chelsea - Sheffield United's revival has been timely to face free scoring Chelsea. The Blades defeat of Wolves was a good preparation and now boast 3 matches unbeaten with 2 wins. Chelsea have won all their matches except for a blip at West Ham and are in 3rd with 60 points only ahead of Leicester by one point. United are two behind. The Blades have scored 5 goals in the last 3 matches and kept a clean sheet last week. Chelsea have their achilles heel at the back. 1-1.

Brighton v Manchester City - A tall task for Brighton to host a rampant City side. Extremely hard after a 1-3 defeat to Liverpool and City crushing Newcastle 5-0 but could take a leaf form Southampton who shocked City 1-0. City are scoring buckets so they should get another win. 1-3.

Wolves v Everton - Wolves have suddenly lost form and suffered two consecutive defeats without scoring. Everton may be meeting them at a right time. Raul Jimenez and Dominic Calvert-Lewin shall get a goal each for a draw. 1-1.

Aston Villa v Crystal Palace - Villa have not won for a long time and this is a chance for them to taste victory as Palace have lost 4 times and conceded 11 goals. Problem is Villa have not scored for 3 games so how to pile it on Palace? 2-2.

Spurs v Arsenal - Spurs have been struggling to win. No more that free flowing team under Pochettino I enjoyed watching. Meanwhile, Arsenal have been playing well and are undefeated for long. As a London Derby there will be added spice and bragging rights. Spurs scored only once in their last 2 matches but kept 2 clean sheets. Arsenal were purring and alsp ketp 2 clean sheets but were held 1-1 by Leicester. I feel they are equal and will cancel each other for a draw. 2-2.

Bournemouth v Leicester - Bournemouth seemed like a goner but stole a point when they hosted Spurs. So perhaps they could repeat it here but Leicester have United breathing down their neck and must win. Most importantly Jamie Vardy is leading by 2 goals as top scorer and has scored 3 times in two matches. With the Cherries like open season, Vardy and Leicestr could plunder and prosper. 1-3.

Manchester United v Southampton - The Red  Devils are the most in form team. They have won so many matches now and are free scoring. Bruno Fernandes has been their Man of so many matches and 18 year old Mason Greenwood will have a very bright future at United and for England. The Saints and undefeated in 3 matches, scored in each and had beaten City 2 matches ago. If they could stop City, can they stop United. It will be very tough. Southampton are tougher than Bournemouth and Villa and Danny Ings could score. 2-1.
