EPL 2019/20 - Game Week 7

EPL - The Toughest League They used to say the EPL is the best league in the world. It is probably true but for a long time I have said it is the toughest league in the world. Game Week 6 is proof all round as you look at every match. Leaders Liverpool led 2-0 away at Stamford Bridge and were stormed by Lampard's boys but held on to win and it was the Reds' first away win over a Big Six in a year. This was their 23rd unbeaten games and their 15 wins in a row. Next up will be a tough but winnable trip to Sheffield United. Manchester City roared back from the previous shock and embarrassing defeat by Norwich by tearing Watford apart 8-0. It was the first time I saw a live match where the lead was 4-0 in less than 15 minutes and 5-0 by 17 minutes. Could have been more. I thought such a thing only happens when playing PS4 at the amateur level. The weekend began with Southampton bouyant from an away win at Sheffield United but they crashed 1-3 at home to Bournemouth who themselve...

EPL 2019/20 - Game Week 6

Game Week 5 saw some surprises. Liverpool continued their dominance with an emphatic 3-1 win at Anfield despite going down very early on and now lead by five points. Their front three especially Firmino who came on when Origi was injured were unplayable. Manchester United got a narrow win and climbed to fourth. Tottenham were at their best and shot up to third with a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace. Chelsea were actually awesome with a superb 5-2 win at Wolves. Manchester City were stunned 2-3 at Norwich and was the week's biggest upset. Arsenal led 2-0 but ended up 2-2 due to bad defending. This week, European competition commenced and could affect league performances during the weekend for various reasons. It will be interesting to see how each perform in Europe and the domestic league in Game Week 6.  Southampton v Bournemouth - The Saints had a great result when they won 1-0 away at Sheffield after previously getting a point from Manchester United. These are crucial points and...

EPL 2019/20 - Game Week 5

There are no big matches this week so the intriguing thing to do is to see who blinks first. City or Liverpool. Liverpool host Newcastle while City travel to Carrow Road to play Norwich. Both should win and keep their positions. Arsenal face a tricky trip to Vicarage Road to take on Watford whose manager Javi Garcia was sacked and in came Sanchez Flores for a second spell. In such situation, sometimes a team like Watford with a new manager might just push them harder.  Do also take note that many players are back from the international week especially for the Euro qualifiers. With at least two international matches they may be worn out. Some others may be in inspired form as they starred for their countries. Will their club managers rest them and make changes to the line up this weekend?  Virgil Van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum starred for the Netherlands in their 4-2 away win over Germany. That was something especially for Gini Wijnaldum who scored against Germany aft...

The last time I shared with you about "The Fragment Room". In case, you miss it here is the link: https://gforce-guru.blogspot.com/2019/08/the-fragment-room.html Just before we went to the Fragment Room, we needed to eat and energise so my son recommended this noodle shop just a few doors away. It was a lazy Saturday afternoon but the shop is air-conditioned. We were sightly early so there were not a lot of people. No queue, just sit down, order and wait for your food. It was a really good choice. We ordered our noodles and a couple of side dishes and the first thing that was served was the soup that came with our noodles. I think this is Chinese Spinach soup. Something that my mum used to do every now and then. Recently, there has been a resurgence of spinach soup at various hawker centres. Spinach offers a really refreshing flavour and has a very unique taste and this soup is very good. If I am not wrong they called it "xian cai" or "hin choy" i...
