EPL 2019/20 - Game Week 4

The surprises are flowing in early. I was in good early season form predicting correctly four out of ten perfect scores. It is always treacherous predicting the score. I go it perfect with Norwich 2 Chelsea 3, Sheffield United 1 Leicester 2, Liverpool 3 Arsenal 1 and Bournemouth 1 Manchester City 3. Nice surprises were found when Aston Villa defeated Everton 2-0. Chelsea's first win must been a relief for Frank Lampard. Southampton's 2-0 away win at Brighton must have caught many off guard. The biggest upset was Crystal Palace turning the Theatre of Dreams into nightmare. It prompted quite a few jokes on social media such as: "Man Utd fans: "We will smash Palace. Palace: Ayew sure?" "Guys please check up on your Manchester United friends. It looks like they 1-2 Cry. Ask them Ayew okay?" And finally a photo of two soldiers checking on things in a jungle which went: "That's a a negative!!! No sign of United fans on any social media." Le

VAR! VAR has become VAR, VAR, Vroom! Is it good or is it bad? It depends on who benefited isn't it? But it does slow down the game. Without VAR, teams would sometimes be on the losing end and also sometimes benefited.  This week's big game are from the pace setters - Liverpool and Arsenal in number one and two positions at Anfield. One or both are set to drop points. Aston Villa and Chelsea are searching for their first win while both City and United of Manchester are seeking to return to winning ways after their respective draw last week.  Aston Villa v Everton - Captain Jack Grealish was Man-of-The-Match but Villa lost to 1-2 at home to Bournemouth last week. I told you he is good but not it was not enough as the Villans slumped to their second defeat and if not corrected soon may end up as the new Fulham of last season. Everton drew in their opener and won at home over Watford (1-0) so this is progress for them. a 10th minute goal by Bernard was enough. A home win

There seems to be a lot of anger around the world today. People fight over the silliest things. They fight over a parking lot, in a queue to buy silly toys, they fight over perceived staring, young people get into fracas especially at drinking spots, old men fight, hurt or kill one another suddenly over things. People protest in large groups and turned violent.  Anger management should be a good business. The other problem is ego. Combined anger and ego and you have a very potent cocktail of emotion like a Molotov. Molotov himself died from a cardiovascular disease and pent up stress and anger could do the same to anyone. I get it that people are often stressed and may have pent up frustration over various things  but if you get into a fray, you either end up at the police station or a hospital. Some have their faces rearranged and bills are without discounts even if you are a regular hospital visitor so let there be peace, live and let live.  Every time you feel like smashing thi

EPL 2019/20 - Game Week 2

The season started where it left with Liverpool and Manchester City romping to easy wins. So too a rejuvenated Manchester United. Tottenham and Arsenal got their victories too. If Liverpool lost the title by a single point last season, it could be worse if this season goes down the wire by goal difference. Most teams have strengthened themselves with additions so a tougher season is is store. When Jose Mourinho was asked which are the teams with a realistic chance of winning the title this year, he said: "Man City, Tottenham, Liverpool and Man City B team".  In other words, he has written off Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United. It is easy to understand why he said so. It is going to be a long season and what surprises are in store? Game Week 2 begins this weekend and the match of the week must be huge match at the Etihad where CHampins Manchester City host Tottenham Hotspurs. They will serve early notice for this year's title race. Spurs were already very good an

EPL 2019/20 - Game Week 1

Your three-month wait is over. A new EPL season beckons. How will it pan out after a pulsating season last year. There will be three newly promoted teams in Aston Villa, Norwich City and Sheffield United. How will they fare? How about the rest of them plotting and scrambling. Everyone starts on a fresh sheet. Will there be surprises? How many would be the same old story? Champions Manchester City will be the favourites. They have just signed Rodri, the strappling 1.9m midfielder who is like Sergio Busquets to eventually replace the ageing Fernandinho   from Athletico Madrid while Vincent Kompany has left. Will his absence weaken their back line? Liverpool could have won last season with 97 points but were pipped by a mere point by City. Can they be even stronger than last season after being crowned European Champions. They have only spent a little for Dutch youngster Sepp Van Der Berg who perhaps Klopp may groom to be the next Virgil Van Dijk and Fulham wonderkid Harvey Elliott. T
