Bedok Reservoir

The great thing about outdoor running is you could be running anywhere, anytime. The scene is always changing and that is a thing of beauty and choice. The morning, in fact each morning brings us renewed hope and yes fresh air.

That time, it was decided to be at the Bedok Reservoir. I was early but many were already there to participate in an event.

It was some group event that requires participants to run or walk around the reservoir. I was also wondering how many of you were still fast asleep on  lovely Saturday morning.

The serenity of the morning hue was spectacular.

The water's reflection and the distant sand bank was a marker of an arduous task ahead.

Heaven's reflection was on the water surface. Heaven as it is on earth.

The clouds burst apart and scattered as they welcome the sun. It is only when the climate is so cold that you appreciate the sun.The recent cold spell was a case in point. Here Comes The Sun.

You take your own path in life. Choose wisely.

There will come a time in life where you are at a point of convergence, where air flows of oceans meet marked by up welling (air) or down welling (water) if we are referencing nature. Life is the same.

There are no books to tell you what must be done nor anyone in your shoes. Where does your wisdom come from?

We could study bark to tell the age of trees but we can't tell at what age what we may be facing or how we may peel like bark or who will be barking at trees.

I spotted a few young anglers. It is better for youngsters to be fishing with friends building relationship, pursuing a hobby and training their patience rather than hanging out at shopping malls. The authorities should provide more space and areas for fishing.

I completed my morning run. While it is a scenic place it is not my favourite place to run. I find the pebbled pathway and its surrounding running path uneven.

I drove away and came across NSman strutting their stuff. It must be the dreaded IPPT.

Travelling back in time, I saw myself, my friends and contemporaries at it.

Finally, back to what we do best. For most people at least.

The most popular "Cheng Tng" and Cuttle Fish Kang Kong. I was too early.

And this is interesting, they have every 'pisang' that you may like plus the 'goreng' ones.

We settled for the usual suspects or what was available.

Fortunately, the ''cheng tng'' was available a bit earlier. We had some and got some for take-away. It is still probably the best one around because it is still traditional and authentic using the right ingredients including dried persimmons with sugared winter melon strips. Quality stuff.

Well, one out of two ain't bad but cuttle-fish/kang kong was still not ready.

I grew up with neighbours and friend's neighbour's peddling epok-epok door to door. How many of you know if the curry puff and the epok-epok are not the same though it may taste quite similar. Curry puff are usually stuffed with curry chicken with potatoes and western-styled flaky pastry outer layer. Epok-epok originally do not contain curry and is a Malay-styled curry puff. I like the the Malay-styled epok-epok. Best!

I will always get some when I come across a stall selling it. Always fabulous, always a part of our growing up years.
