Singapore Soccer Legends - Part 2

Image
In 2008, I wrote an article on Singapore soccer. It was simply titled Kallang and the Malaysia Cup: http://gforce-guru.blogspot.sg/2008/10/kallang-and-malaysia-cup.html In 2011, I suddenly felt inspired to expand the topic and I wrote six more articles: The Kallang Roar parts 2,3,4, three other articles with the "Singapore Soccer Legends" garnering the most hits! http://gforce-guru.blogspot.sg/2011/07/kallang-roar-part-two.html http://gforce-guru.blogspot.sg/2011/07/kallang-roar-part-three.html http://gforce-guru.blogspot.sg/2011/07/kallang-will-roar-again-part-four.html http://gforce-guru.blogspot.sg/2011/07/singapore-soccer-way-forward.html http://gforce-guru.blogspot.sg/2011/11/singapore-soccer-legends.html http://gforce-guru.blogspot.sg/2011/12/reviving-singapore-soccer.html Recently, a big local media company even used materials from my blog to feature Singapore soccer in a documentary or something and I did not even know what was used nor did

EPL Game Week 13

This is why we love soccer. Also, I like Arabian commentators. They are so passionate they could bring a boring game to life.  Watch:  https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=636322196410375&set=vb.266828596693072&type=2&theater Their players are great fighters such that you may think you were watching MMA: http://sg.sports.yahoo.com/video/fighting-erupts-kuwaiti-football-match-205527578.html Villa v Sunderland - Villa has been unbeaten for 3 matches and this is a small revival. Sunderland made great strides when they shocked Southampton and Man City but went down to Stoke tamely. In their last 5 meetings, they drew twice and Villa won 2 to Sunderland's 1. I expect that this match will end in a draw. 1-1 .  Cardiff v Arsenal - Cardiff lack consistency but they took points off both Manchester clubs. They met twice in the FA Cup drawing 0-0 in Cardiff and Arsenal won 4-0 at the Emirates. The Gunners are holding tight to their position at the top. Cardif

Bike Affair

Image
Bicycles are getting really very popular in Singapore. The growth and expansion of bikes have been exponential. It has got to do with more and more Park Connectors opened for all. When we were young not many of us could afford even bicycles. I mean, money is needed to be spent elsewhere for things more important.  We would borrow bikes from friends or neighbours just to ride for fun and the bikes we borrowed were mostly old ones. Some are like those that provision shops used for home delivery of goods. When we had a bit more pocket money, we would go to a place where you could rent small chopper bikes for a few dollars for many hours and those were the days where the name Raleigh meant high end. In recent times, with a spike in bicycle ownership, there have been endless debates on who has what rights on the road. I am a pedestrian, cyclist and motorist and I have my skirmishes with all three. I will elaborate on these at another time but all we need is a little common sense. I

The Public Izakaya

Image
This is getting popular in Singapore. Izakaya dining. What exactly is an Izakaya? Its is a Japanese restaurant that is like a tapas bar. Is it a restaurant that serves a lot of alcohol or a bar that serves a lot of food. It is really a drinking joint that serves food. Izakaya was derived from "i" which means "to stay" and "sakaya" meaning "sake shop". Japanese men like to drink beer and sake after work and in modern day even women and students. Some started offering more types of food and drinks to increase their clientele. You ought to be more adventurous in an izakaya where you can find a lot of sochu or sake. The common sense rule of eating is that when you have more people with you, you can sample more things but still you can go in alone and it is not a problem. I found myself in one which was often crowded during lunch time. This one is called "The Public Izakaya". The setting is rather casual. In our modern day

Sport Fishing

Image
Sport Fishing is also known as recreational fishing. It is merely fishing for pleasure, treating it as a sport and not necessarily to fish so that you could eat the fish although it can be an option. Real sport fishing enthusiasts are respectable folks who practise etiquette when fishing and have a tradition of catch and release as they fish for sport.  Hobbyists often discussed about equipment like fishing rods, reels, lines, hooks, sinkers, floats, baits and tackle boxes for storing weights, floats, lures, swivels, lines, hooks, pliers, etc. The other word to describe the practice of catching fish with a hook is called angling. So sports fisherman are anglers. In other countries, fly fishing, bow-fishing or spear-fishing are popular.  But fishing needs etiquette just like golf and others. All sport fishing people would agree. If you want to eat fish, go buy from the market. You can bring home the fish you caught from the sea to eat but others who fish just love the fight. So t
