www.Go To The Mountain - Musings of a Potential Guru

Preface It has really been awhile since I have last written and published an article on my blog with the last being in October last year. Before that I have been writing and publishing non-stop for 15 years since 2008.  I was not suffering from writer's block. They say running water never grows stale. So I have to move on to other things since the pandemic has ravaged and torn all asunder. No matter how passionate you are about anything, you will find that after an absence for sometime, the engine gets cold and you find it harder to start.  Just too darned busy and being too busy with one thing means one becomes lazy with the others. The law of compensation. A hiatus if you must.  Covid made it worse as there was no more travelling since borders were closed and eating locally and overseas were curtailed. So I could not write about these things. In fact, I laid out my travel luggage, sat down and spoke to them - "We are not gonna travel for a few years". They have since be...

Messi is still strutting his stuff at 35 while Ronaldo is sulking on the bench at 37. Still both of them are the most remarkable footballers on planet earth for the longest time. You are just so fortunate to have the opportunity to watch them play. World football is now dominated by Kylian Mbappe and Erling Braut Haaland. Both are very fast with Mbappe just slightly faster and both score bucket loads of goals with Haaland just edging it slightly for goals per game. Haaland scored a hattrick and also provided two assists against Manchester United. Before this match, he registered back to back home game hattricks. His goal scoring is epic! In eight games, he has fourteen goals! He does not need many touches, just give him the ball and he scores. He is unstoppable and unplayable. The only way is to stop him is to cut off his supply but City's supply chain is strong, no disruption like the global one. Just picture this - City have 29 goals to date, Arsenal -20, Spurs - 19, Liverpool - ...

Did you see Wilfried Zaha's goal? How good is he every season and did you know he once played for Manchester United but United did not think he was good enough. Brighton have been very good and yet Fulham took full points at Craven Cottage with Mitrovic grabbing another goal to bring his tally to 4. I told you that Southampton are very good this season after watching them play but none of us would think that Chelsea will crumble at St. Mary's. Leeds have improved from last season but found Everton hard to overcome. Everton are still without a win but Anthony Gordon has been their shining light.  Bournemouth got a home point v Wolves, Arsenal continued their resurgence with 100% wins, 5 wins from 5 games. If they make themselves difficult and continued winning who is to say they cannot win the title? City were at their rampaging best when they crushed Forest 6-0. Erling Haaland is going to bulldoze his way for City and top the goal-scoring chart. His was the second hattrick in ...

What a weekend of Premier League soccer! Such drama and goals galore! Bring it on, we want more! Manchester United got their first win away win after 8 attempts with a good team goal but Southampton were hard done as they played well, even better than United, had more shots with 2 big chances and better xG. How was it not a handball penalty for the Saints when the ball hit Scott McTominay's hands three times even if it was not intentional but It kind of interfered with the ball's direction?  Everton are still without a win as they allowed Brentford a late equaliser despite playing with lots of grit. Brighton continued their great success story with a 1-0 home win over Leeds but a gross negligence allowed Pascal Gross to fired home.  What was Conor Gallagher thinking when he took down Harvey Barnes for a second yellow and marching order and it was only 28th minute? Gallagher was so outstanding on loan at Crystal Palace last season. Desite playing with ten men, Chelsea won ...

Surprises and excitement in Game Week 3. Tottenham worked hard and got full points thanks to Harry Kane once again who outscored everyone who plays for one Premier League club. Crystal Palace showed what a good team they are and Patrick Viera has a bright future as a manager. Everton saved a point at the brink of death and Fulham won a hard fought battle with Brentford in such an exciting game. Leicester's slump continued conceding a late goal that led to defeat by Southampton. Arsenal established their credentials that they are the real deal and are definitely a very strong contender for top four even if it is early days to say they could challenge for the title. West Ham are shockingly at the bottom of the table with three straight defeats this time at home to Brighton.  Newcastle are a very good side built by Eddie Howe. He didn't go about buying the best players but crafted his team to play very good football. When Gundogan scored in the 5th minute you thought it was game ...
