EPL 2021/2022 - Game Week 10

Humiliation of the greatest order! Only a couple of weeks ago I wrote about Newcastle United's famous 5-0 win over Manchester United but this was worse when Liverpool humiliated their biggest rival - the famous Manchester United in their own backyard at Old Trafford, the Theatre of Dreams. Four goals down by half-time and the game was already over with fans seen leaving in droves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLxmuh6wCVY ( Man U v Liverpool) Paul Pogba was sent in to help stem the tide but he saw red after a bad and dangerous tackle that saw Naby Keita who is in a rich vein of form stretchered out. There was nothing else to play for as the Red Devils sat back with a man less. Six yellow and one red and the endurance of a second half which will feel like ten hours before they can hide and knowing that they will be paying the high wages of the famous Cristiano Ronaldo who cut a sad lost and forlorn figure. He should have been red carded instead of seeing yellow for his petulance. ...

I dislike the International breaks. It makes us miss EPL matches on weekends. Two weeks ago, I wanted to sell Lukaku to buy Vardy and then to make Mo Salah as Captain for my Fantasy Premier League (FPL) but delayed it due to the international break and later conveniently forgotten to to do that. What happened? Salah scored a magical goal and provided a superb assist, Lukaku fired blanks and Vardy scored a beauty and not only that, players not fielded or injured were not changed and all in all I missed and lost at least a good 30 points.  What an opener it was or Game Week 8 as Liverpool buried all doubts about them and the ghost of a shocked 0-3 drubbing in 2020. My original prediction was for 2-0 or 3-1 but did not wish to appear bias and the Reds were simply too good. If that Salah pass for Mane to score was incredible, Salah's goal was almost identical to the magical one he score against City. Firmino capped his performance with a simple hattrick. Now Salah's last ten games...

Another interesting and exciting week of EPL soccer in Game Week 7 before the international break saw Manchester United held 1-1 at Old Trafford by Everton where Martial redeemed himself a bit by scoring but the weakened Toffees without their key strikers were quite a match for them and when they thought they got a winner in the 86th minute, VAR came to rescue of the Red Devils. Sir Alex Ferguson said the "you should always start with your best payers" in reference to Ronaldo not starting. Would he really made the difference on the day? Or perhaps Solskjaer should only rest him against teams in the lower half? Have Sir Alex himself rested his top players from time to time during his days? If so, then it is not a fair comment. Which has a higher chance now - United winning the title or OGS getting the sack?  Norwich finally got a point at Turf Moor as they battled  Burnley to a 0-0 draw. Southampton played a good game at Stamford Bridge and looked like repeating their draw...

What a spectacle Game Week 6 has turned out to be! Every week has its own excitement, drama and shenanigans but Game Week 6 has the most of everything!  It began with Chelsea's 0-1 defeat on their home turf to City despite winning all the previous encounters. It was not just that Pep Guardiola and his team has learned how to restrict Chelsea on the wings but they did it with conviction with more possession, xG, shots and chances created. That is a big signal to the rest that it has to take a very good team to displace them.  Manchester United's collapse at their own Theatre of Dreams ( seldom referred to recently)  to Aston Villa,  was not quite unexpected. We saw how good Villa were when they trounced Everton. While I knew Villa could score and give United a hard time, I was thinking a draw is highly possible but given the Red Devils' famed attack, they could still outscore Villa. United were saved by a late Lingard goal against West Ham and an even l...
