EPL 2020/21 - Game Week 10

RIP Great One Diego Armando Maradona! There is none like him and never will be. His World Cup goal in 1986 against England where he dribbled half the England team to score may never be repeated. In the semi-final he did almost exactly the same thing to Belgium.  He was pure genius and a magician. Geniuses see things that others don't. In soccer, they even know where their opponents are moving before their opponents themselves know it. That is how they create time and find space no matter how tight. All geniuses have flaws too and it is part of their personality and he has the child in the man. Think Paul Gascoigne. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wVho3I0NtU (Argentina v England) All the world's best players may have some similar traits but are all different. Pele was probably the most complete with his goals, creation, movement, headers and being equally adept with either foot. Johan Cruyff was the conductor of an orchestra. Zinedine Zidane was a ballet dancer. Franz Becken...

Mizuno JPX 919 Hotmetal

When I first wanted to write about this, the pandemic came and rendered most things in life meaningless. Golf too came to a standstill. Even when courses were opened later with safety measures in place, you can't even get your slots to play. Those who used to travel overseas for golf especially to China, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia or even Batam and Bintan were stuck here. Those who travel for work are also stuck here and many others begin to golf again. It is just too difficult to get a flight but we must keep on and keep our chins up even after long layoffs and playing like beginners all over again. Before I could share with you the wonders of the Mizuno JPX 919 Hotmetal they have recently released the 921. Mizuno have been making some of the most awesome irons over the years and have been noted for their great looks, awesome feel, excellent quality that produces great shots. Their product development are geared a lot towards irons than any other clubs. Mizuno deserved more cred...

EPL 2020/21 - Game Week 9

This pandemic has taken so many lives, injured and hurt many others and also causing all businesses to falter and turning lives upside down. Of course sports and soccer were not spared. In Italian Serie A, Juventus is 5th. In La Liga, Valencia who were struggling have just thrashed Real Madrid 4-1 leaving Real Madrid in 4th while Barcelona are in 8th.  In the EPL, Southampton chalked up 1st position for one night only as the next day Tottenham took over as leaders before Leicester edged them by a point and took over hours later. Liverpool would have led that table but played to a 1-1 draw with City at the Etihad. It was a superb first half but a tepid second. The first half pace took their breaths away. When legs are tired, the minds go too. Instincts become split second decisions and split seconds linger on and things become different.  This is indeed a strange season. With other European leagues allowing 5 substitution and the Premier League allowing only 3, probably due to ...

EPL 2020/21 - Game Week 8

Yet another great weekend of football last week and a fter 8 Premier League games, the Premier League table reads: (1) Liverpool, (2) Leicester, (3) Tottenham, (4) Everton, (5) Southampton, (6) Wolves, (7) Chelsea, (8) Aston Villa, (9) Arsenal, (10) Manchester City. Among the Big Six, Manchester United are languishing in 15th place. Bottom three WBA, Sheffield United and Burnley are still without a win.  Meanwhile, the top scorers read: (1) Son Heung-Min - 8 goals, (1) Dominic Calvert-Lewin - 8, (3) Mohd Salah -7, (3) Jamie Vardy - 7, (5) Harry Kane - 6, (5) Patrick Bamford - 6, (5) Callum Wilson - 6, (8) Danny Ings - 5, (8) Wilfried Zaha - 5. After this week's excitement it will be a slow burner as the EPL have an international break to steal our fun for a week. When you are winning, the stoppage halts your momentum but when your team is suffering injuries it is a welcome relief. Finally, we say goodbye to Sir Sean Connery. Not only was he the best Bond ever, he made Bond his own ...
