Back in the 80s to the 90s, I frequented two restaurants. I would entertain customers there and because they were so good I would sometimes bring my family to dine there too. They were located almost side by side at the now defunct Novotel Orchid Inn. They were Charming Garden and Dragon City. Charming Garden was opened by the father of Mr. Andrew Tjioe, founder of the Tung Lok chain of restaurants and specialized in Hunan cuisine. Dragon City served Sichuan food. Whoever I brought there love the food at these restaurants. There are good overpriced restaurants but a good restaurant should still be reasonably priced. Needless to say the food must be good. The service should be friendly and reasonably good. There must be ample car park too. After so many years, I have dined at some of the finest Chinese restaurants here at their peak over and over like the above, the old original but defunct Swatow,  Hai Tien Lo, Wah Lok, Hua Ting, Crystal Jade, Imperial T...

EPL 2019/20 - Game Week 28

If you are a soccer fan and also a fan of the EPL, you would have realised since a long time ago how competitive this league is. This makes Liverpool's dominance this season even more incredible even as they are less exciting and more pragmatic. They are leading the table by a massive 22 points! There are only eleven games to go. The Reds need 13 points from their remaining 11 games to be crowned Champions no matter what second placed and current champions Manchester City do! So if they keep on winning, there will be early closure and they could focus more on the Champions League if they first overcome Athletico Madrid. Liverpool's last 18 match record - WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! Meanwhile, the current top scorers are as follows: 1. Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang (Arsenal) - 17 goals 2. Jamie Vardy (Leicester) - 17  3. Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) - 16  4. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) - 15 5. Danny Ings (Southampton) - 15 6. Marcus Rashford  (Manchester United) - 1...

EPL 2019/20 - Game Week 27

Very quickly, the season will end on May 17. After 26 games have been played by each team with 12 remaining. Every team will have their own destiny to face, a different stage in their journey. Some will be joyous others heart-breaking. Players and managers will come and go. Some could still change their fate to rescue their season. Better late than never. The worst must be relegation where money and prestige would be gone. Some went down and never returned or landed farther South. Some big clubs will be flying around like vultures zeroing in on smaller clubs' star players.  Sometimes when you are very good, you could still come in second if you know what I mean. It happened to Liverpool last season and though Liverpool have not won the title yet this season, it could happen to Manchester City this season. It happened to the marvellous Newcastle side under the aura of Kevin Keegan. Like Tottenham in 16/17 and so on. The journey is important and you have to take in the lesso...

EPL 2019/20 - Game Week 26

Game Week 25 brought some quite pulsating matches to the fore with every team fighting for something and for their own  respective cause. Leicester and Chelsea started with a 2-2 draw maintaining their 3rd (49 points) and 4th position (41 points). Bournemouth (16th) bounced back with a 2-1 home win over Aston Villa (17th) with 26 points and 35 points respectively - both just one or two points above relegation zone. Sheffield United' 1-0 away win at Crystal Palace pushed them to 6th leaving Palace dropping to 14th. Leaders Liverpool romped to a 4-0 win over Southampton at Anfield after an insipid 0-0 first  half for a superb win and now have a massive 22 point lead! Norwich fought for their life at Newcastle to draw 0-0 and left Newcastle in 12th and themselves at the bottom with only 18 points , 95 below 19th Watford who fought tooth and nail against Everton but still lost 2-3 from a 90th minute goal from Theo Walcott. West Ham (18th) were same old Hammers when their 3...

Sometime ago, a crocodile was found on I think hole 6 of Orchid Country Club basking in the sun on a rocky patch. You should not be surprised as all waterways lead to the sea so salt water crocodiles could find their way in. It probably also depends on the distance from the sea and the food source available. Sungei Buloh and the Kranji areas should have more crocodiles and Lower Seletar Reservoir that straddles between OCC and Seletar Country Club is just next to the sea from the other side of Yishun Ave 1. Crocodiles can easily crawl over. So do not take for granted especially around and near the water as besides crocs there are also snakes.  In fact, alligators, buaya and crocodiles are all over the golf courses. They are also known as ABC. Very good golfers who won't give  you stroke and others who asks for a lot of strokes. These are equally deadly. In order to keep these ABC at bay or to even compete with younger golfers, skills and experience are not enough. Bu...
