Ping G - Driver

Image
Before I have time to pen about the Ping G driver, Ping has uncharacteristically released a new version which came back with numbers - the Ping G400. While drivers are getting bigger up to no less than 460cc, Ping has gone the other way making it at only 445cc because they have technology to make them friendlier by discretionary weight placement and the smaller head plays like the head and aerodynamics of a mere 3-wood providing speed for distance. I have played Ping and my first Ping driver was the G5 and subsequently the G15. It was the combination of the G15 driver and G15 irons that gave me a most memorable game and best score ever. (That was me in action below with the G15 years ago). I have moved on to experiment with many other brands and model of clubs. I thought that my game have arrived then but it never did! I have ditched those more difficult to play clubs and returning to Ping and hope like the Ping slogan says - to "Play Your Best". Well, if you still can'

Carlo Ancelotti, the Italian maestro who has won everything has been sacked by Bayern Munich! The finest of soccer managers was apparently ousted by player power after a poor start in the Bundesliga and a humiliating defeat by PSG in the Champions League. A soccer manager  is like the leader of any organisation, he must have support from both the boardroom and the players. Lose either one, worse if both and it is bye bye. Meanwhile, the world is witnessing a young player whose career is just so phenomenal. His name is Kylian Mbappe, the 18 year old Frecnh boy who ply his trade with PSG. Rio Ferdinand has said that what he is doing is illegal and just too much and should not be allowed as he is making a difference at this young age in the Champions League. The boy has frightening speed and skill to match. I watched him on a few occasions and he has the potential to be a legend and a world superstar. Huddersfield V Tottenham -  It is often that Harry Kane and Dele Alli are in th

This is a surprising good find under the nose. It is double happiness when you find a place with good food and it is really close by. I was not led there by smell but by a couple of signs. It is at 7 Hoe Chiang Road, just across from Keppel Towers. I have never had a chance for breakfast here though. The first time visit happened to be just for cuppa, an usual kopi O. Then the lunch crowd gathered and I was busy looking around everywhere watching what everyone was eating. As you can see from the menu, it is quite varied and everything I saw kind of look good. I also saw happy faces and they busily tucked in. One day I have the chance for a quick lunch and so I remembered the place. A simple home made barley drink. For a quickie, chicken rice cannot go wrong. The chicken rice here is good. Tender chicken with fragrant rice but they should not have dumped the achar with the chicken. Why don't they just put it into the rice plate? On another occasion, I

EPL 2017/18 - Game Week 6

Everyone wants to play for either Real Madrid or Barcelona. Not only the money is good, maybe the tax is low and you certainly play with the best. Not for some like Neymar who has since migrated to PSG. At Barcelona, everyone lives in Lionel Messi's shadow naturally. Find me a better footballer on planet earth. Not Neymar. Probably he is making more over there and he is the new big star player there. However, not everyone is so adorable and a gentleman like Messi who has shown that he allowed others like Neymar to take a penalty when he was at Barcelona. The same did not apply at PSG as Neymar has to contend with Edison Cavani. Looking at the current state of the Premier League, it looks like the two Manchester clubs have been the most consistent and awesome carving out solid performances.  West Ham V  Tottenham - White Hart Lane was like White Hot Lane in the past as the stands are close to the pitch but Wembley is different. Tottenham dominated with possession from 67 to

Soon Soon Teochew Porridge

When are you going to bring me for Sungei Road Laksa? Soon, soon. I told him. Recently, I remembered and reminded myself to remind him and he said it has already been a year. He was exaggerating. Also good things come to those who wait. "Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.'' - Lao Tzu. I remember the good old days of Teochew Muay or simply Teochew porridge. That was what mums used to cook at home. Simple home cooked dishes eaten with porridge, Teochew style. I remember frequenting Goodwood Park Hotel for their teochew porridge. Then there was one for late night porridge at the former Equatorial Hotel. Many frequented the Oasis restaurant too. You must also have read about a teochew porridge stall at Upper Serangoon that got smashed up by some drunkards.  I only but patronise one stall at Simon Road because I think it is the best and it is called Soon Soon. It is popular and you will see young and old or the whole family eating there.

EPL 2017/18 - Game Week 5

The Premier League saw its first casualty when Crystal Palace sacked Frank de Boer just after 4 matches! The reason why Palace appointed de Boer must have included the fact that he once played for Ajax and spent 5 years at Barcelona. The only thing that has some resemblance of Barcelona is the team kit but to do so after 4 matches made even Jose Mourinho angry. Premier League teams are back in action this weekend after their mid-week European challenges for some. Some rediscover their form with solid performances while others raised more questions. This week's biggest match will be in London at Stamford Bridge where champions Chelsea entertain Arsenal. By the time I publish this, the first match for the week would have been played. Bournemouth v Brighton - Eddie  Howe was once touted to be a future successor to Arsene Wenger at Arsenal for the attractive soccer dished out by Bournemouth but how quickly things have changed. His team is struggling with four straight defeats

Hong Kong Chef's Kitchen

In life, you have to give everyone a chance and then you have to work on the opportunity. Sometimes, the decision can be a tough one. You may have to leave a place and go to another. But as in a crisis if life there are opportunities since crisis in Mandarin is 危 机 . Separated it means danger (   危) and opportunities ( 机). Therefore, in crisis or danger there are opportunities. You have to make things happen like setting up a business, a hawker centre or a food stall. I have known many Hong Kongers who came to Singapore long ago and became successful. They took a risk, a calculated risk.  Hong Kongers are fastidious about their food. So I was happy to stumble upon this tze char stall at the Ci Yuan. They have the standard fare but also other unique dishes. Besides, fish steamboat, they have many other interesting local seafood like BBQ Sting Ray, cockles, gong gong, etc. There are some stories about the chef/owner. This set menu dinner for ten is value
