Bangkok In 2016 - Part Three

Image
The only reason I am giving a part III is to share about the food and a bit of fun as fascinating as the place is. Of course, at the end, Bangkok is still a bustling city and not a beach resort that I yearn for to heal my soul. As Robbie Williams sang: "Give me endless summer, Lord I fear the cold, feel I'm getting old before my time. As my soul heals the shame, I will grow through this pain. Lord, I'm doing all I can, to be a Better Man". Own time, own target. Everywhere you go, the places and streets are thronged with people from all over. Ladies would love to shop whereas guys are lazy shoppers. Guys either go straight to the place and get what they wanted or find something as they dragged their feet along and that's the end. Over here, it is easy to buy anything even if you do not need them due to the array of goods available. For the dreamers out there, I recommend these dream catchers. Or fancy a simple but nice personal and customised passpor

EPL 2016/17 - Game Week 38

Chelsea won the EPL League title because they are the best team over a whole season. They played as a team and they have a very good manager in Antonio Conte. They were in terrible shape but when Conte arrived he inherited the team, made clever tweaks to players (Victor Moses has been a transformation) and the system (3-4-3) and added important players (N'Golo Kante) and he invigorated Eden Hazard and Diego Costa. An excellent manager always make use of limited and available resources to achieve goals. Chelsea were also fortunate with injuries and have the advantage of using mostly the same players without going through major rotation. Not being in the Champions League helps as Leicester City did the same last season. Next season they will need reinforcement. Congratulations to Chelsea and their fans. Now for the rest and their last match of the season. If you see people feeling lost during weekends, it is probably due to the end of the soccer season. Arsenal v Everton - The G

EPL 2016/17 - Game Week 37

EPL is indeed the most competitive soccer league. It is not just so easy to win the league title. You could see the smaller teams or teams at the bottom holding or even beating the bigger and richer teams at their own game. That is the beauty of it. Chelsea have more or less done it with that 3-0 in over Middlesborough sending them down to the Championship and Tottenham's 0-1 collapse at West Ham may have just ended the fight. The attention now turns to who gets into third and fourth and which is the last team to be relegated and also the top scorer chart. EVerton's Romelu Lukaku has 24 goals from 35 matches (ratio: 0.68), Tottenham's Harry Kane has 21 from 27 games (ratio: 0.77) and Diego Costa got 20 from 33 (ratio:0.60). Kane is the most lethal in that sense regardless who tops.  There are two to four matches left depending on the team but all soccer fans have two weeks left to savour and three months to lick their wounds if their team falters or fall short. Let's s

Saboten

100 AM @ Amara has transformed the 3rd level with 7 Japanese restaurants under one roof. I like! With ''Itadakimasu'' opening up here, it is now so easy to have different types of quality Japanese food anytime and this is at 100AM alone not forgetting the many others around. Itadakimasu literally means let's eat or Bon Appetit. I have tried a three of the restaurants so far which I may share with you later but this time I walked into another one- Saboten.  Saboten was established in Japan in the 60s and grew into a big chain with over 500 shops. All along my favourite tonkatsu that could satisfy my cravings is at Tonkichi at Scotts. Of course it could go with curry but my fave would be the tonkatsu sauce. How do you turn onions, carrots, tomatoes, apples and other spices into this magic sauce? Needless to say it is a favourite. So I was here. Only two of us so it is safe as they can't sabo ten. Irasshaimase! That's what they call out to you at every
