Post LKY Era Singapore

Last week I have written a tribute to our late first Prime Minister. Over the week of national mourning, I told people that we should celebrate his life. There were brickbats from some quarters too which I think is natural. http://gforce-guru.blogspot.sg/2015/03/tribute-to-lee-kuan-yew.html I used to ask people this question sometimes - To those who are younger: What would you be doing at the age of 35? And to those who were older: What were you doing at age 35? Maybe some of you were still job hopping and fooling around at that age. Lee Kuan Yew was our Prime Minister at 35. Imagine that. What kind of responsibility do you have? When the heavens poured down that day on his funeral, a certain saying was debunked. I have heard that at the end of the day, no matter how popular or well loved you are, the number of people attending your funeral is determined by the weather! Some said it should have not have rained. I beg to differ. Even in his passing, Lee Kuan Yew has proved na

Tribute To Lee Kuan Yew

It has been a hectic few months and I have just returned from a whirlwind trip once again - the third in a month. There was no time to write but this time I felt compelled and there is only one article that I would write. This could be the most difficult article I have ever written. Soon after the demise of Mrs. Lee, I could see that our first Prime Minister missed her dearly. He seemed withdrawn and somewhat sad. We saw and heard less from him and each time I saw him he looked weaker. He was hospitalised before I travelled, came back then travelled again. His condition got worse. That morning, when I got up just after 4am, I received the bad news. Though he led a good life till 91, my heart was heavy. I grew up watching and listening to him and though I do not agree with everything, I have the most awesome respect for him and his team from the Old Guards.  As the taxi came, the radio station played solemn music with intermittent announ

Simplicity 101

Do you know how difficult it is to keep things simple? Humans beings are complicated that is why the world is in a perpetual mess for their minds are filled with details, unnecessary details. If their minds were to be their home, they will be classified as a hoarder.  Never let your life be frittered away by detail. Simplify. Others are afraid that you know their weaknesses or habits so they hide under a cloak, put on a guise or facade or say things they do not mean as they do not want you to read them. While people can be stupid, they are generally smarter than you thought. They read you. I suppose it is very tiring and stressful to put on a false front or double face everyday. So why don't we just keep things simple? Have you ever seen someone dressed so simply and yet they look simply so good? Being simple is an art, a high level art. Simplicity is the new cool!  Sri Chinmoy said: ''In the outer life simplicity is beautiful. In the inner life, simplicity is in

EPL 2014/15 - Game Week 29

There are ten matches left. How quickly the season came to this mark. Just two more months and it is all over. It's still Chelsea's title to lose (63 points). City are pegged five points back in second place (58) and Arsenal third (54) and undeserving Man Utd. fourth (53 points) based on performance, Liverpool are fifth (51 points), Tottenham sixth (50 points) and Southampton in seventh (49 points). Chelsea are steady and in a strong position. City dropped crucial points. Arsenal tend to finish strongly and shall maintain 3rd if not 4th. I do not think Man Utd are going to Europe next season based on their performance so far. Liverpool and Tottenham are more deserving. Even Southampton, we have to respect them.  Meanwhile, the EPL is no longer the best league in the world. Almost all their teams are out of the Champions League. So how can you be the best. However, the EPL is still the most competitive and exciting in the world. Palace v QPR - Palace have not won at ho
