EPL 2014/15 - Game Week 15

Santa Claus: What do you want for Christmas? You: A dragon? Santa: C'mon, be realistic. You: Ok then, I want Liverpool to win the League. Santa: As you were saying earlier, what colour dragon do you want? Well, to be fair, Liverpool actually came back with two wins in a row. Southampton went the other way. Manchester City are playing good catch up with Chelsea who are still steam-rolling and Manchester United are coming up sooner than expected and Christmas is coming and with the usual fixture pile up with no rest, loos of form, suspension and injuries, everything could take on new meaning.  Newcastle v Chelsea - The Magpies could not do anything right at the beginning and then they could do no wrong. Then they went to Upton Park and were beaten and Turf Moor and held to a draw. What kind of belief do they have when they host table toppers Chelsea? Do remember that Chelsea were held 0-0 at Sunderland two games ago and Newcastle do have a good record against them. In the same

Irodori Japanese Restaurant

Image
I read somewhere that Irodori is one of the top five Japanese buffet restaurants in Singapore. It must be good since Kitaro ate here before as I saw his photos on the wall. They have a wide selection of ala carte menu with fresh seafood from New Zeland, Australia and Norway. You can have the usual suspects like maguro, hamachi, etc. but you must have the Ebi Mentai Mayo.  Irodori means colourful or an assortment of colours. With their price tag that comes with further discounts, the quality of food simply means value for money and bang for your bucks. Naturally you can expect a good crowd there. Ebi Mentai Mayo is a must try that is why they give you only once. Go ahead, prawns do not give you more cholesterol than lobsters or crabs. Those of you who love Shishamo would be drooling. It resembles a willow leaf and is also called willow leaf fish. It is usually grilled or fried whole with the roe intact. Obviously Tempura to go along, needless to say.

EPL 2014/15 - Game Week 13

Chelsea went to Schalke 04 and won handsomely with an awesome and masterful display in a 5-0 win. Manchester City finally came alive with a 3-2 win over Bayern Munich and Aguero in fine form with a hattrick. Few teams beat Bayern Munich. Arsenal beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 which was good considering they have been conceding goals. Liverpool fought to a 2-2 draw away to Ludogorets to keep their faint hopes alive. Chelsea are on sort of auto-pilot now. Man City are trying to keep up but something is not quite right yet. They are not peaking together and n patches. Arsenal play pretty as usual but is Wenger been too stubborn with his philosophy. At Anfield, Brendan Rodgers is having a hard time to make Liverpool like last season, With these in mind my crystal balls says: WBA v Arsenal - WBA surrendered tamely at Stamford Bridge last week and are in 13th while the Gunners played a good attacking game at home to the Red Devils, pinned them back, created numerous chances but could n

Modesto's

Have you ever been to a mega mall and later could not find where you car was parked? Thanks to camera in a phone, just snap a photo. I used to be part of the Kallang Roar at the National Stadium and saw people who could not remember where they parked their car and have to wait for all others to leave before they could see theirs. The same goes with mega-malls and their car parks. Go back the same way you came through whichever door, entrance , exit, elevator or escalator.  Never go through the pain of walking an entire car park sometimes floor by floor just to find your car. You may walk halfway and meet a cow. That is when the cows came home. We were here to check out fine Italian food.  Two "ang moh" food that impresses me most are French and Italian but nobody cooks like the mad Chinese. We came to Modesto's. Modesto's specialised in wood-fired pizza and home-made pasta. The menu is quite sizable and there will be something for everyone here.

Palm Spring Golf @ Batam

I returned to Tering Bay but the weather did not welcomed us as much as we would like. I remembered when I used to organize monthly golf trips here, some of those days were like that. It began raining heavily when we were in the ferry after waiting for a month and spent time planning the trip with a day's leave wasted. So everyone just sat in the ferry quietly with a grumpy and long face. Fortunately there is a thing called beer to keep you sane. We managed to finish the first half and by the ten, with inclement weather looming, we decided to call it off ourselves for safety. At places where they do not have reading for pressure built up in clouds, there would be no siren to stop play so we have to use our common sense. It is a clear and almost immediate danger if lightning is about from 5 km away. In such a situation, if you detected the first flash of lightning activity, start counting (as you can see from a flash and as light travels faster than sound, a thunder
