Fresh Fish - Direct

Image
Last week, I wrote about blog and website. One day, if I could successfully expand on it may be I could sell it for a cool $2 million? For $3.5million, I will throw in the house, the car and the laptop just like char siew and roast pork together with the family's secret recipe. Muahahahaha, muahahahaha. Then on one Monday morning, I have people calling and writing to me asking if I was in Spain. Maybe they thought I was there to watch Real Madrid versus Bayern Munich but knowing I could not possibly afford the plane ticket and being savvy about such scams they knew well it was probably a scam due to my email being phished and hijacked yet they took the trouble to make sure I am all right. I felt really touched! Then there were those friends who probably haven't read the emails so they are safe but I wondered if I were really kidnapped and by the time they read the email, I would be dead and buried. Haha. People in trouble should call their family members first and it wou

Clan Gold - Whisky Indulgence With David Findlay

Image
Whisky Indulgence with David Findlay, b y invitation. Union Square at The Amara was the good place to hold the event. It is going to be about Clan Gold. You know this whisky? I think all you whisky lovers should. Who Is David Findlay? He started his career in the transport industry before he moved to Scotch Whisky (what a lucky bloke!). Many of us are still left stranded in the MerryTime (pronounced Maritime) business. David Findlay has worked alongside the best Blender in the business, David Stewart who has won many awards than anyone in the Scotch Industry. David Findlay is now the Brand Ambassador for the company and this was his first visit to the Far East. The people that were here that day and had met David Findlay are a fortunate lot. I told David that I like his kilt. Unfortunately, I didn't tucked my shirt in properly and it looked like I had a bottle of whisky in there. Singapore is so cosmopolitan now and with our hot and humid weather, we should be metrop

EPL Game Week 36

This will be the Grand Finale you must be thinking. Man City v Man Utd title decider at the Etihad. It was more of Everton's brilliance but Utd gave away a 4-2 lead to end up 4-4. City must beat Utd at home and win the remaining ties to land the title as they have a superior goal difference. Utd just need to draw and win the rest of their matches. That makes this match a "must-watch". For me, it is still Man Utd's title to loose. After the City game, they will play Swansea at home and Sunderland away while City will face Newcastle away and QPR at home. Swansea has lost their stamina and together with Sunderland has nothing to play for that is life and death. Newcastle is actually the best team in the EPL in the last 8-10 games and QPR is fighting for survival. This is a real dog fight. Other than this, with 3 matches to go, who will be going down besides Wolves?  Everton v Fulham - David Moyes, with limited resources has gone great guns with Everton. You would

Golf Tournament

Image
Amateurs, social golfers, golf enthusiasts and weekend hackers all love to join a golf tournament. There used to be many fund-raising and charity golf events previously and often, especially the charity golf they were for very good causes and I think charity golf is a good way to raise funds. It seems that due to the frequency of economic recessions, there have been a dearth of such events but those who still painstaking organise golf competitions are to be lauded because it takes tremendous resources and energy to put one together. In Singapore, the weather is so unpredictable that it can be a killjoy. You know you are not going to win that hole-in-one but boldly proclaiming the prize and showing you a car do make many people drool at the prospects. In the last event, somebody big upstairs even played a cruel joke on us just as we arrived at the hole-in-one tee box. The siren sounded, we returned to base, sat and drink beer but there was no rain but lightning threat. It ende

Blog and Website

Blog 111 countries have visited this blog to date. The latest were Venezuela, Dominica, Lebanon, New Caledonia, Guatemala, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Peru, Jordan, Guam, Reunion and Gabon.  There are about 458,000 hits as of now. The reason why I am sharing this is simply because it has been an amazing experience for me! Sometimes when I am walking on the street now, someone may call up from behind "Hey Guru!" or shout from across the street "TGIF!!" Thankfully, none have shouted "Owe $ Pay $", the modus operandi of loan sharks.  I have made lesser known hawkers happy especially when they saw themselves on the blog. Restaurants and other retail businesses too. Sometimes, I may not even inform them.  I want to catch people doing the right things. I give you an itsy bitsy of a vacation or when I travel, I show you what are the suitable golf clubs for you and explain why, I encourage you to embrace nature, develop hobbies, spend more time with family and fr

Photographs And Memories

Coke Is It? A 30 year old woman in NZ ate little and drank some 33 cans of Coca-Cola a day which eventually led to her death. Was Coke, the Real Thing responsible? Another argument was that even if you overdosed on water, you can get into trouble. Probably a combination of many things. Simply, extreme are always dangerous. If you have pictures of old Coke bottles, you'll get fond memories. Better still for those who remember, Green Spot, Kickapoo, Sinalco, F&N, even a Royal Crown Cola.  Extremes Are Dangerous Talking about "extreme", do you think the recent media coverage on our very own sex scandal went overboard? A 17-year old whom people described as hardcore pro remains anonymous and protected by the law while countless people were being charged. Rightly, these people should be charged for any wrongs but they have not been proven guilty yet and their careers are already in ruins. Divorces  will probably soon follow and families will split but the families a
