Gratitude

Gratitude What prompted me to write this? I spoke to some folks whom seemed bitter about ungrateful people because they have helped these people in the past and yet these same people whom they have helped has turned around and bit them causing them hurt and hardship. It is almost like a sense of betrayal isn't it? This is not new isn't it? After such an experience, those affected by people with ingratitude vowed never to help others. Normal isn't it? When anyone is bitter or in anger. I will try to assuage, urge calm and balance here because people who are not grateful or would betray do not print these words on their foreheads. There are mosquitoes and houseflies but there will always be butterflies and dragonflies. We can't say we want to go out and kill everything that flies. For the many trials and tribulations we go through, there are many other wonderful people to discover. If we behave like them, then we become like them and are no better. A Grateful H

EPL - Coming Soon!

The new season of the EPL is rolling out soon to keep us busy on Saturday and Sunday nights again starting with the traditional Charity Shield between last season's League and FA Cup champions which means a local derby involving Manchester United and Manchester City next week. The wheeling and dealing, cat and mouse game in the transfer market makes the new season so an interesting one. Let me provide you an update for the top teams because no money no talk. Arsenal The Gunners has loan out Brazilian Denilson to Sao Paolo and they have sold Gael Clichy to Manchester City. Cesc Fabregas, no longer the same force he was maybe because his head and heart has not been sorted out as he may still be sold to Barcelona at the "right price" and Samir Nasri too to another bidder. Even as Wenger promised to buy more nothing has happened yet perhaps till the transfer window closes. Right now they only have Carl Jenkinson (from Charlton), Ryo Miyaichi and Gervinho (from

Singapore Soccer- The Way Forward

Two new countries have their flags popped up on my blog - the Czech Republic and Jamaica. These are the 81st and 82nd countries. I like it. For anything to succeed, you need support, you need passionate people all around with drive and dreams and you need the space to do it. Create more spaces for people to play the sports, generate the interest, start them young and get more folks engaged and excited. Build it from the team's wins and it shall be a good start. Douglas Moore did a good job and Barry Whitbread brought home the Tiger Cup with R. Sasikumar's back or backside goal after which we won the Tiger Cup a few times to be the best team in South East Asia. Raddy Avramovic gave us the best ever result when we went to the World Cup Qualifiers' third round. The two legged triumph over arch rival Malaysia, 5-3 at home and then 1-1 away for a 6-4 aggregate win over the reigning S.E.A. champions is such a time to build on with the return of the Malaysia Cup. How To Pick The Right Driver For Your Game.

Now that we are into the 7th month of the Lunar Calendar, some Chinese believe that the Hell Gate is now opened and all the hungry ghosts will be prowling the streets. When I was young, I used to hear adults talking that when you are out at night walking on the streets, when you hear some one calling your name - never turn back or answer. Now I know why when I called out to some people they just ignored me. I suppose that few people will be playing night golf as well in case mysterious balls fly past you from nowhere. Make sure you fill up your flights with four people in case a stranger joins your flight and disappears halfway or walks to the green and vanish. Lol. Alright, now allow me to help you find your dream driver. You look into a golf bag and you will likely find a driver, a couple of fairway woods, a couple of hybrids, a set of irons, wedges and a putter. Each club is important in its own way and the only way you are going to play quite well is to be fairly good on t

Kallang Will Roar Again! (Part Four)

Soccer is all about the fans without which there is little meaning but it is the players that make things happen. Star players were household names. Of course there must be rivalry. Strangely enough, when a team wins, they often mention about some great players or the team but much less praises or awards are given to coaches, yet the coach is the main fall guy when it comes to the sacking when things do not turn out right. Uncle Choo was not the Singapore coach because he was extremely outspoken and fiery just like Brian Clough was. He recalled certain players against certain opinions. You see Uncle Choo was diabetic and in giving his all to Singapore he might have neglected his health. Soon after the glorious win and thereafter, he had an amputation of his right leg due to gangrene to save his life. At 66, the enforced idleness was too much to bear as the FAS turned down his offer to be adviser to the Pre-Olympics team. "I may have lost my leg but not my head" Uncle was d

Back in the good old days, we have four other national teams. Besides the National Team (The Lions), we also have a B team (The Cubs). Then we also competed in the Sultan's Gold Cup fielding a team called Singapore Malays. We have the Singapore Indians playing in the Bardhan Cup and the other being the Singapore Chinese team also competing aga inst Malaysian state teams in the same format and also the Ho Ho Cup triangular among Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. In 1976, Englishman Trevor Hartley became responsible for the Singapore team at age 28. I can't remember which year Singapore beat Malacca 6-2 and Lee Bee Seng was sent off for punching an opponent who must have trampled on him. Here is Bee Seng with Brian Rozario. In the same match Quah Kim Song was sent off too for fighting. And I said wow! Malaysia Cup is like that? I like! (Pix - Lee Bee Seng with Brian Rozario). And can you believe this? Before all these we have Mike Walker who played Kim Song a
